Ozone helps to absorb UV radiation and therefore decreases the amount of it that hits the earth. The Ozone layer absorbs about 98% of the UV radiation from the sun. The sun produces 3 types of UV radiation, that penetrate organisms in different ways. A decrease in ozone, increases the UV radiation coming to earth.
