Amino Acids
Amino acids have a consistent form with an amine group on one end and a carboxyl group on the other end. Due to two polar functional groups, the basic amino acid is polar.

Polypeptide Bonds
Amino acids are linked together during translation to form a dipeptide using a peptide bond. This process, that occurs in the ribosome, is an anabolic condensation reaction.

Proteins
Proteins are coded for in our DNA. During Transcription and Translation the DNA code (or gene) is turned into a protein.

Types of Proteins
Proteins are the workhorses of the body. Their functions are varied and diverse. Functioning as enzymes, muscle contraction, cytoskeleton building, tensile strengthening, blood clotting, transport of nutrients, cell adhesion, membrane transport, hormones, receptors, packing of DNA, and immunity.

Denaturation
Denaturation is the process by which proteins loose their 3D folded shape.

Proteome
A proteome is all the proteins produced by a cell, a tissue, or an organism.
