Enzymes and Activation Energy
Enzymes are catalysts, speeding up reactions. How does an enzyme speed up a reaction?

Enzyme Inhibitors
Inhibitors are chemical substances or biological molecules that bind to enzymes reducing their activity. They come in two forms:
Metabolic Pathways
Metabolic pathways consist of chains and cycles of enzyme catalyzed reactions. Pathways are complex reaction pathways consisting of multiple steps (and multiple enzymes) to convert one reactant into an end goal
Simplified- a metabolic pathway is the series of enzymatic reactions that convert a starting molecule (A) into a final molecule (D). The products in between are called intermediatary molecules (B and C).
Feedback Inhibition
Feedback inhibition is one of the ways in which in which cells control the amount of products being produced at any given time.

Drug Database
Databases are being used to identify new possible drugs. By using chemical structure of substrates/ inhibitors/ working drugs, new drugs can be searched for using databases of chemicals
