Cellular REproduction
Cell Cyle
The Cell cycle is the life cycle of a cell: the process of its growth and division.
Stages of the Cell Cycle: Interphase contains 3 stages: G1, S, and G2

Cancer is cell growth that does not stop. It is unchecked.

Chromosome Basics
A Chromosome is tightly wound DNA. DNA only appears as chromosomes while in the M phase of the cell cycle.
|
Mitosis
Mitosis is the asexual division of the nucleus for the purpose of cellular repair and growth.
4 Stages of Mitosis:
|
The resultant product of mitosis creates 2 genetically identical daughter cells that generally replace dead or dying cells in the body

Meiosis
Meiosis is the division of the nucleus and reduction of the number of chromosomes for the purpose of producing gamates (sex cells).

Mitosis under a microscope
The stages can look very different under a microscope. But you should see the same basic ideas. Anaphase the chromosomes are pulling apart from eachother, metaphase they are lined up, etc.
